2020 Copa Sudamericana: For a unique final, unique lighting.

Copa Sudamericana 2020: Unique Lighting for a Unique Final

The Mario Kempes Stadium, located in Córdoba, Argentina, served as the stage for Club Social y Deportivo Defensa y Justicia’s triumph as the champion of the 2020 Copa Sudamericana.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the match had a very limited audience, which led to the implementation of a modern, high-tech setup optimized for television broadcasting.

However, with only one month’s notice, CONMEBOL, the championship organizer responsible for the entire event infrastructure, faced a critical challenge: the stadium’s lighting did not meet the required standards for high-quality television broadcasting.

CONMEBOL contacted Silicon with just a month remaining before the match, requesting a solution. In less than 30 days, a customized lighting system was designed, delivered, and installed at the Mario Kempes Stadium, meeting the quality, safety, and performance standards demanded by an event of this magnitude.

For the final, four additional lighting structures were installed, strategically positioned below the stadium’s existing system. Each structure delivers 9,600 watts of power and projects an impressive 1,680,000 lumens onto the field.

In less than a month, Silicon delivered a customized, high-performance lighting solution for the 2020 Copa Sudamericana final, ensuring broadcast-quality coverage and elevating the stadium experience. This project proves that with the right technology, any venue can meet the highest international standards.
